Andrea Campbell Denies Rumors of Run for Congress
Half of the fun of an election cycle is sorting through the rumors and well-planted suggestions about who may or may not run or office-hop in the next big election.
When you hear that so-and-so is considering "primarying" someone or launching a challenge to Candidate X, this is often a trial balloon floated by a candidate's supporters to, as they say, test the waters for a possible bid.
Why Andrea Campbell’s Move Matters
Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell and her family left behind their Boston digs in 2025 for a new home in Dartmouth, igniting speculation that Campbell had her eye on the 9th Congressional District seat currently held by fellow Democrat Representative Bill Keating.

Will Stockton, Campbell's spokesman at the time, told Providence-based WPRI-TV 12, "AG Campbell loves her job and is not running for Congress."
Rumors of a Congressional Bid Resurface
At 73, Keating is reportedly considering retirement, and speculation is again surfacing that Campbell may be considering a run for Keating's seat in the House of Representatives.
The Campbell camp denied that's the case.
What Campbell’s Office Is Saying Now
"AG Campbell is not considering a run for Congress," Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Zafar informed me in a response to my email inquiry.
"AG Campbell is deeply grateful to have the opportunity to serve the people of Massachusetts as their Attorney General and intends to continue working on their behalf as an advocate and resource," Zafar said.
Campbell’s Political Future Beyond 2026
The 43-year-old Campbell was elected Massachusetts Attorney General in 2022. Her term expires in 2026, but Zafar did not respond to a question about whether Campbell plans to seek reelection at that time.
Her fixation on the Trump Administration and failure to force enactment of a voter-backed audit law could be problematic for Campbell should she decide to seek another term.
