Massachusetts is one of a handful of states where you can make a living simply by hating Donald Trump.

To prove my point, look at Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell, who has filed, by her own admission, 57 lawsuits against 45/47.

As elected officials and advocates donned bright rainbow colors and accessories and carried rainbow colored fans outside the Massachusetts State House on June 3 for the annual gay Pride Month flag-raising ceremony, one by one, they slung arrows of utter disdain at President Trump and his policies.

The Financial Cost of Political Defiance

Of course, Governor Maura Healey is the official "Trump-Hater-in-Chief," given her rank. Healey gets paid more than $300,000 a year for blaming Trump for everything that might be wrong in Massachusetts.

While Healey's anti-MAGA rhetoric is usually more bark than bite, AG Campbell, who makes a mere $224,000, is the attack dog. The one with the legal pads and access to the courts. Trump is one of her favorite targets.

Tracking the 57 Federal Lawsuits

State House News Service reported, "Campbell said her office has filed 57 lawsuits against the Trump administration, some of which aim to protect access to reproductive, gender-affirming, and mental health care."

Just this week, Campbell filed suit against Trump's Department of the Interior for "illegally" cancelling TotalEnergies' offshore wind lease. Last month, Campbell sued Trump's Department of Education.

The Battle for Additional Legal Funding

In just 16 months since Trump's second administration began, Campbell has sued 57 times. In February 2026, Campbell asked the Legislature for $2.7 million so she could file even more suits against Trump.

Chasing Maura Healey’s Courtroom Record

As impressive as Campbell's track record is for filing suits against Trump, she is a mere rookie compared to the last Attorney General, Maura Healey, who once boasted on CBS in 2024 that as AG, she sued Trump "over 100 times for his lies."

Campbell has to step up her game if she wants to replace Healey as Trump-Hater-in-Chief someday.
