BRIDGEWATER (WBSM) — A Mashpee woman has been identified as the person who died in a fatal crash on Interstate 495 in Bridgewater Saturday afternoon.

According to Massachusetts State Police, troopers from the Middleboro barracks responded at about 3:18 p.m. on July 6 to a single-vehicle crash on I-495 southbound.

State police said preliminary investigation indicated a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu was traveling down the highway when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle went into the wooden median of the roadway and rolled over.

The driver of the vehicle, a 79-year-old Mashpee man, was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The passenger of the vehicle, identified as Lana Testa, 74, of Mashpee, sustained fatal injuries and was determined deceased at the scene.

State police said the crash remains under investigation.
