Tabor Academy Grad Shane Lachance Signs With NHL’s New Jersey Devils
Massachusetts' own Shane Lachance is heading to the NHL. The Tabor Academy grad has just signed a one-year entry-level deal with the New Jersey Devils.
All eyes were on Lachance when he was selected by the Edmonton Oilers in the sixth round of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. The left winger was still finishing his time at Tabor Academy at the time, but his future was bright.
Local Ties to Massachusetts
His local ties run deep as the Andover, Massachusetts native spent a few seasons with the Seawolves in Marion and went on to become the youngest captain of Boston University's Men's Hockey program.
The 2025 Beanpot champions were led by Lachance, who pulled off this goal in the semi-final game:

From Tabor Academy to the NHL
Lachance is now shifting gears to a much higher level of play, ready to suit up with the New Jersey Devils. Back in March, Lachance was acquired via a three-team deal between the Devils, Edmonton Oilers and Boston Bruins.

Over the weekend, Lachance made it official with the one-year deal. Entry-level contracts (ELC) are the first contracts signed by young NHL players.
Those younger than 25 years of age by September 15 of the start year of their contract must sign an ELC. They typically come with a salary cap, but can include bonuses based on performance.
Lachance signed his deal over the weekend. No word yet on contract details.
