Marion Firefighters Rescue Two Horses Stuck in Mud
Two horses that got stuck in the mud up to their necks were rescued Sunday by Marion firefighters and a Plymouth County technical rescue team.
Crews received a rescue call at around 5:06 p.m. and responded to Converse Road, where the horses were hopelessly stuck. Workers used rope, hay, shovels, a winch, an all-terrain vehicle and their expertise to extract the animals. Crews were on the scene for about three hours.
"We are happy to say that both horses are recovering and well," the Marion Fire and EMS department said on Facebook. "Special thanks to all the members of the department who worked tirelessly in this effort."
Mattapoisett Fire Rescue provided station coverage for Marion during the incident.
