MANSFIELD (WBSM) — Authorities are investigating after a 23-year-old Mansfield man was the victim of a homicide Saturday morning.

According to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, Samuel P. Waters has been identified as the man who had been fatally shot.

A 911 call came in at 11:11 a.m. this morning reporting a shooting at 42 West Church Street in Mansfield. First responders arrived on the scene to find Waters already deceased.

The D.A.’s Office said one person has been detained in connection with the homicide, but has not yet been formally charged. It was noted that there is no danger to the public.

Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the district attorney's office, Homicide Unit prosecutors and Mansfield Police continue to investigate.
