WAREHAM — The man who was found dead in a Wareham motel early Wednesday has been identified as 31-year-old Edward Purdy, the Plymouth County District Attorney announced this afternoon.
Purdy had been living at the motel where he was found just after 8 a.m. today, according to the D.A.'s office.
Wareham police were called to the Village Motel at 2739 Cranberry Highway after a person performing a well-being check on the tenant in room 7 found him unresponsive.

First responders arrived shortly afterwards and Purdy was pronounced dead at the scene.
State police and Wareham police are still investigating, the D.A.'s office said.
Detectives have canvassed the area for witnesses, collected surveillance footage and conducted a number of interviews.
According to the D.A.'s office, this is an unattended death investigation that is active and ongoing.
The Massachusetts Chief Medical Examiner's Office will determine the cause of death.
It remains unclear if any foul play is suspected in Purdy's death.
