Prosecutors say a man who fled Massachusetts 16 years ago has pleaded not guilty to a pair of unsolved rapes from the 1990s.

Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn says 61-year-old Ivan Keith was arraigned Friday in Fall River.

Keith was arrested this summer while living in Maine under an assumed name. He was ordered held without bail and will return to court on December 6.

Quinn says Keith was indicted on three counts of aggravated rape and other charges.

The attacks allegedly took place in Taunton in 1997 and in Easton in 1998.

DA Quinn says he was pleased Keith was held without bail because he was a flight risk and a danger to the community.

Keith's lawyer says his client has "declared his innocence and looks forward to his day in court."
