Luxury Newport Hotel Among ‘Most Romantic’ In The World
A historic hotel along the famed Newport Cliff Walk has not only been named the 'Most Romantic Hotel in America', it just broke into the list of 'Most Romantic Places To Stay in the World.'
Believe it or not, among gorgeous waterfront resorts and remarkable European retreats, is a 20-room Gilded Age manor house in Rhode Island.
Yes Rhode Island recently made travel magazine Conde Nast's list of romantic getaways.

The Chanler at Cliff Walk was once known as Cliff Lawn, a manor house built in 1873 for John Winthrop Chanler and his wife, Margaret Astor Ward, great-granddaughter of the famed businessman and millionaire John Jacob Astor.

Throughout the next 150 years it served as an all-girls school in the 1920s, the summer home of Bishop Francis Patrick Keough in the 1930s and even apartments for naval officers of the nearby Naval Academy.
Since 2003 however, it has been a high-end hotel with rooms decorated in the style of various historical periods. There's a dark, wood-lined room featuring a portrait of Henry VIII over the fireplace.
A powder blue French inspired room with a stunning four-poster bed.
And an early American-style suite with a pewter chandelier.
Every room has it not only it's own fireplace, but also heated bathroom floors, wet bars and chandeliers. Most also feature jacuzzi tubs and ocean views.
Not hard to see why they ranked among the 'most romantic places to stay in the world.'

Though it's not just the rooms that are so romantic at The Chanler. They also offer private, waterfront yurts for a unique twist of the igloo dining trend.
At The Chanler, illuminated fabric tents that seat 2-5 guests offer "a Nordic family style feast" for those lucky enough to get reservations.
So even if you don't spend the night, The Chanler can be a romantic night out for Valentine's Day and beyond.
