Los Angeles is now the official U.S. bid city for the 2024 Summer Olympics.

The United States Olympic Committee has formally named L.A. as the U.S. bid as it prepares to turn in the choice to the International Olympic Committee by a September 15th deadline.

The USOC had previously chosen Boston to be the U.S. bid for the 2024 Games, but Boston leaders eventually decided to turn down the plan over concerns about cost overruns.

The International Olympic Committee will pick the site for the 2024 Summer Olympics in 2017.

Rome, Paris, Hamburg, Germany and Budapest, Hungary have already submitted bids.  (Metro Networks Inc.)
