Beloved Little Compton Restaurant Sells to New Owners, Its Future Unclear
After 16 years of serving breakfast favorites on Main Street in Little Compton, The Barn Restaurant has decided to sell to a new owner.
At this time, it’s unclear what the new owner has in store for The Barn.
After the restaurant announced the change, the community flooded The Barn’s online announcement with wonderful memories shared at the beloved restaurant.

The Barn Set to Sell to New Owners
In 2008, the Madden family and the Wordell family came together to purchase The Barn Restaurant.
“Both families raised our children at the restaurant while striving to ever improve our menu offerings,” the restaurant posted online. “Our goal has always been to provide excellent service, consistent meals, and provide an atmosphere where coming to work was fun.”
In its official statement, the restaurant shared that a buyer approached them a few months ago, and they ultimately decided to sell.
“We have wrestled with this decision thinking about all the friends we’ve made, thinking about those of you that we know on a first-name basis, knowing you come from near and far to be served by us, worrying about what will happen to our staff, and so many other factors,” the restaurant wrote. “After thinking long and hard, we have decided selling is in the best interest of our families.”
The restaurant said it is not clear what the new owners have in store for The Barn, but they are aware of the loyal following that the restaurant has.
“Although we are not sure when we will depart, it is certain to be before the 1st of the year,” the restaurant wrote.

The Community Shows Love to The Barn
After the news broke online, loyal patrons gave their best wishes and shared their favorite memories made at The Barn.
“Our Sunday morning breakfast and an occasional one during the week has become such a big part of our lives and we will miss it,” Joanne Maxwell-Barbarito said. “However, we’re very grateful for the many breakfasts we’ve had and the many friends we’ve made.”
“The Barn is the best. Been going there since 1994, many great occasions, and never get tired of it! I hope they keep the Florentine Omelette!” Eric Spigel said.
“You made The Barn a home away from home for your community, and we’re grateful for your hospitality,” Helena Harris said.
From the heartfelt messages, it is clear that the community will miss The Barn, its homey atmosphere, and its delicious food.
Let’s hope the new owners have heard of the phrase, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
