LAKEVILLE — The Lakeville Fire Department is urging caution on the roads after attending what it called the "first crash of the morning" earlier today on Route 140.

One person sustained minor injuries in the crash, the department stated.

In a post to the Lakeville Fire Department's Facebook page just before 6:30 a.m. on Friday, the department urged residents to stay at home if possible as the season's first snowstorm sweeps the region.

It's expected to bring five to eight inches of snow by this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service, which had placed all of southern New England on a Winter Storm Warning.

Government offices, schools, and daycares remain closed throughout the SouthCoast today, with parking bans and delayed trash collection in most communities.

The crash this morning saw one person taken to St. Luke's hospital with minor injuries, according to the department.

It took place on Route 140 northbound after Exit 12.
