Is Andrew Luck The Next Tom Brady? [VIDEO]
With just five days until they meet in the AFC Championship Game, Indianapolis Colts Quarterback Andrew Luck must be asking himself if he can really beat Tom Brady and the New England Patriots pull off what would be one of the biggest upsets in NFL playoff history.
The odds are very much against it, but think back to the year 2002 when a young Patriots QB led his team to its first Super Bowl championship by upsetting the Oakland Raiders in the infamous "Tuck Rule" game, the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road (a.k.a. "Cancel those reservations), and then the St. Louis Rams, formerly known as the "Greatest Show on Turf," when current Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri made one of the most clutch field goals in Super Bowl history.
Each time, Brady and the underdog Patriots were written off as a fluke that would not be capable of winning when it mattered and each time they proved everybody wrong. But can Luck, who has had no success whatsoever against Brady and the Patriots really pull it off?
Paul Perillo of Patriots Football Weekly wrote that Luck presents multiple problems for the Pats defense. He is extremely mobile, can throw accurate bombs down the field after being flushed from the pocket and keeps getting better.
Meanwhile, the Indianapolis Star wrote Tuesday the Colts could beat the Patriots at Gillette Stadium if they bring their A game like they did against the Denver Broncos and control the clock like the Colts did with the fourth quarter drive that lasted more than 8 minutes.
CBSsports.com noted that in last year's AFC Divisional playoff game, the Patriots beat the Colts, 43-22, and then were trounced at home, 42-20, on Week 11 of this NFL season.
As confident as the Patriots is going to this Sunday night's title game, Brady and head coach Bill Belichick never take anything for granted and neither should Pats fans.
Opening kick-off is at 6:40 p.m. on Sunday night. Be sure to catch all of the pre-game and live action right here on the Blimp 102.9, the Patriots Maine Rock Radio Network.
