Human Remains Linked to Donald Webb Case Found in Dartmouth Backyard

DARTMOUTH - Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn III confirms human remains have been found on the property of the family of Donald Eugene Webb.

Massachusetts State Police assigned to Attorney General Maura Healey's Office, along with FBI agents, Pennsylvania State Police, and representatives of the Bristol County District Attorney's Office, executed a state-issued search warrant at 28 Maplecrest Drive in Dartmouth late Thursday morning. The home is owned by Lillian and Stanley Webb, the wife and stepson of longtime fugitive Donald Eugene Webb.

District Attorney Quinn says the remains are now in the custody of the State Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy will be performed to determine the identity and cause of death.

The Maplecrest Drive home was the subject of a search in June, where authorities found a secret room and a cane.

Later in June, State Police seized several hundred gaming machines owned by Stanley Webb from businesses throughout southeastern Massachusetts.

The search warrant executed Thursday was issued in connection with a 37 year investigation into the murder of Saxonburg, Pennsylvania, Chief of Police Gregory Adams. Adams was killed on December 4, 1980, with his own service weapon during a routine traffic stop. It's believed Donald Webb, a career criminal living in New Bedford at the time of the murder, was the subject of that stop. Adams was pistol-whipped and shot.

Donald Webb has not been located since the night Adams was killed. The FBI has offered a $100,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Webb or his remains. He would be 85 if still alive.

District Attorney Quinn would not comment on what lead authorities to the backyard of the Webb home as a possible location for human remains. He also refused comment on whether anyone was in custody in connection to the buried remains.

The case remains under investigation.
