House Democrats Must Miss Congressman Crowley [OPINION]
Former Rep. Joseph Crowley was made a former congressman by the Democrats who voted him out in exchange for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in 2018.
Joe Crowley represented the Queens and the Bronx sections of New York City in Washington for 10 years. His political party, the Democratic Party, changed underneath him and today he is represented by a young Hispanic woman. At age 29, she is the youngest woman to ever serve in the House of Representatives.
Crowley was in his late 50's when he lost his job to this young woman. He had worked his way up the political ladder of New York City politics. He served numerous terms in the New York state legislature before getting elected to Congress. His mother was a legal immigrant to America and his father was a cop as well as a veteran of the Korean War. One of his family members was a firefighter in New York City until he was murdered by terrorists on September 11, 2001.
Crowley served on the powerful Ways and Means Committee in the House. He led the fight in that committee against the Republican's tax cuts and took on President Trump's tax-cutting agenda from his seat on the committee. He was battling into the small hours of the morning to stop President Trump using his experience and his humor in front of the C-SPAN cameras.
He was the fourth highest-ranking Democrat in the House and a likely future Speaker of the House someday.
Today he is represented by a congresswoman who believes the world will be destroyed in 12 years because of climate change. She thinks the weather is as dangerous as the Nazis and the Japanese. She claims that fighting climate change is her World War II. She knows nothing about the history of civilization. She knows nothing about how the House of Representatives works.
New York City is one of the greatest creations of mankind. Too bad that great metropolis is now represented by someone who doesn't know anything but how to be famous.
