A judge has agreed to delay the double murder and witness intimidation trial of Aaron Hernandez.

The story was first reported by New England Cable News.

The former New England Patriot star is charged with the 2012 shooting deaths of Daniel De Abreau and Safiro Furtado in Boston, and with shooting another man who is a potential witness.

Last week both the prosecution and the defense asked for the delay, citing a pending appeal of evidence in the case. The trial was originally set for January 19th.

The judge agreed to delay the start of the trial, and instead set a status hearing for that same date.

Hernandez is already serving a life sentence for the 2013 shooting of Odin Lloyd of South Boston.
