Hurricane's are nasty storms that drench and blow apart lives and property when they strike.  Haiti is bracing for a severe encounter with just such a storm.

Hurricane Matthew was briefly a category five storm over the weekend but is still a strong category four monster that is threatening the people of Jamaica, Cuba and Haiti.  Haiti is expected to feel the brunt of the storm with rainfall totals projected to reach between 15 and 40 inches.  With very little foliage and lots of dirt hillsides and mountains landslides and floods will wreak havoc.

Haiti has for a long time been a hard luck island nation.  The struggles in Haiti have been real, especially since a category seven earthquake killed hundreds of thousands in 2010.  The country has not yet recovered.  Many people are living in insufficient shelters or tents and will not survive a storm like Matthew.

I have spent time in Haiti and have come to know her wonderful people. They truly do not deserve more heartache but they will endure.   The Haitian people love life, their God and  still hope for the future.

Please, pray for Haiti and everyone else in Matthew's path.
