Unless you are on the extreme left, you probably view Democratic Massachusetts Rep. Jim McGovern as a total partisan fool.

For years, McGovern represented the Fall River area in Congress until Democrats gerrymandered the congressional districts in Massachusetts, in part to get rid of another controversial left-wing fool, Barney Frank. The changes shifted McGovern's district further west to the Worcester area.

McGovern is a big fan of the brutal dictators in Cuba. He has been for years. Havana Jim served on the Human Rights Commission in 2019 when he led a congressional delegation to Cuba to push for normalized relations with the island nation that has tortured and killed its people for many decades. Cubans live in poverty with little access to education or jobs.

As recently as January of this year, McGovern criticized then-President Trump for refusing to lift economic sanctions against Cuba, “In yet another stupid and self-defeating move, Donald Trump has, without basis, designated Cuba as a State Sponsor of Terrorism."

Even Bill Clinton saw the wisdom of economic sanctions against Cuba that prevent American businesses and businesses with commercial activities in the U.S. from trading with Cuba. Clinton expanded the embargo in 1999.

Amnesty International says, "civil and political rights continue to be severely restricted by Cuban authorities." The human rights group states, "Government critics continue to be imprisoned; many report that they were beaten during arrest. Restrictions on freedom of expression is widespread. The government curtails freedom of association and assembly."

McGovern's latest pet project is a 1/6 Commission to investigate the events of January 6, 2021, when protesters forced entry into the U.S. Capitol. McGovern's real goal is to intimidate American citizens who might have gathered peacefully in Washington that day in support of Trump. That cannot be allowed to happen again.

What happened at the Capitol is inexcusable but Democrats like Havana Jim McGovern wish to use those events for political purposes to further divide America. They hope a public spectacle might help them to hold on to power as we head into the 2022 midterm elections.

McGovern would use a 1/6 Commission to silence and repress political opposition to the socialist madness occurring right now in Washington – madness that the socialist McGovern supports. In doing so, McGovern will emulate the playbook of his heroes, the Castro brothers, whose goal was to squash the civil and political rights of their opposition.

This is a classic socialist intimidation tactic.

The Best Movies Released in the '90s

To celebrate the incredible cinematic achievements of the decade, Stacker compiled data on all 1990s movies to come up with a Stacker score—a weighted index split evenly between IMDb and Metacritic scores. To qualify, the film had to have a premiere date between 1990 and 1999, have a Metascore, and have at least 1,000 votes. Ties were broken by Metascore and further ties were broken by votes.

Keep reading to discover which film featured one of the most disturbing scenes in cinema and which big movie star made the list multiple times.
