Groove Boston Party Leads To UMass Dartmouth Students Being Removed

A "Groove Boston" party at UMass Dartmouth Saturday night led to 15 students removed due to some form of substance abuse, including one found carrying a club drug.

According to U Mass Dartmouth spokesman John Hoey, only one student received a summons for possession of an MDMA (ecstasy or molly) drug. While there were no instances of violence, one student was arrested for disorderly conduct.

There were 15 medical transports related to alcohol or drug abuse, including the person summonsed for possession. Hoey added nintey-nine percent of the estimated 1,300-person audience enjoyed the evening without incident.

Like all events on campus since the Boston Marathon bombing this spring, officials said they have taken extra precautions, such as not allowing drinks or bags, providing water and not allowing re-entry.
