CANTERBURY, NH — A Freetown couple was killed Friday in a head-on collision in New Hampshire.

The crash occurred at about 1:42 p.m. on Friday, June 21. The couple’s pickup truck was traveling north on Route 106 in Canterbury when the vehicle crossed into the southbound lane and crashed head-on into a flatbed truck. The crash happened just north of the New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

The couple was pronounced dead at the scene, while another person was seriously injured. Witnesses at the scene said at least one of the vehicles was on fire following the crash.

WMUR-TV is reporting that the victims have been identified as 68-year-old Jeannette Mello and 69-year-old Dennis Mello of Freetown.

The crash remains under investigation.
