A new book asserts the idea of replacing Vice President Joe Biden with Hillary Rodham Clinton was floated in the president's 2012 re-election campaign. But a former White House chief of staff says it's an idea that didn't get very far.

Bill Daley says, quote, ``not for a moment was there a serious discussion'' of dumping Biden for Clinton.

But Daley did say on ``CBS This Morning'' that aides to President Barack Obama explored the possibility in 2011.

In their new book ``Double Down _ Game Change 2012,'' authors Mark Halperin and John Heilemann say high-ranking Obama aides weighed recommending he replace Biden with Clinton, who was secretary of state at the time.

But Daley says anybody who would have brought the idea to Obama, quote, ``would have been thrown out immediately.''  (Associated Press)
