East Falmouth Man Charged By State AG With 46 Gun Charges
BOSTON (WBSM) — An East Falmouth man has been charged with 46 firearms charges, including illegally possessing assault weapons, ammunition and silencers.
Scott LaPanne, 46, was arraigned March 1 in Falmouth District Court on six counts of possession of an assault weapon, 14 counts of possession of a firearm without a license to carry, 23 counts of possession of a large-capacity weapon or feeding device, two counts of possession of a silencer, and possession of ammunition without a license to carry.
An investigation revealed that since 2019, LaPanne purchased approximately 50 firearms-related items.
On February 29, Massachusetts State Police troopers arrested LaPanne for operating a vehicle with a suspended license. Following a search warrant, investigators found a collection of weapons and ammunition within LaPanne’s residence.
Officers seized seven AR-15 style rifles, one AK-47 rifle, bolt action rifles, three shotguns, eight handguns, 23 large-capacity magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds of ammunition, two silencers, and hundreds of rounds of various caliber ammunition.
Possession of an assault weapon carries a mandatory minimum prison sentence of one year. Possession of a large capacity weapon/feeding device carries a mandatory minimum prison sentence of two and one-half years.
