Five Arrested After Wild ‘Vehicle Takeover’ Chaos in Fall River
FALL RIVER (WBSM) — Five people were arrested in connection with a number of incidents in Fall River Sunday involving cars racing through city streets and blocking roadways, similar to other “vehicle takeover” incidents that occurred recently in Boston, Randolph and Middleboro.
According to Fall River Police, officers responded at about 12:26 a.m. on October 5 to multiple reports of reckless driving, street racing and blocked roadways throughout the city.
Police Describe "Pre-Planned" Traffic Disruption
In a Facebook post, Fall River Police called it “part of a coordinated and pre-planned event intended to disrupt traffic and disturb the peace of the community.”
“Similar events have occurred in neighboring towns, often with large crowds engaging in dangerous behavior and the response was little more than dispersal efforts,” police wrote. “These gatherings intentionally block roads, endanger the public through negligent vehicle operation, and interfere with emergency services. Such actions are deliberate public disturbances and are not protected assemblies.”
Coordinated Chaos Across Fall River Streets
Police said that on Innovation Way, an ambulance was forced to reroute when those participating in the incident refused to allow it through. A short time later, police responded to Davol Street and Central Street, where about 200 people had completely blocked the roadway.

“Individuals in high-visibility vests acted as road guards while vehicles performed burnouts and donuts, and fireworks were set off in the street,” police wrote. “Many participants wore masks to conceal their identities and showed complete disregard for police presence.”
They said that Davol Street was entirely shut down by these vehicles, limiting access to St. Anne’s Hospital and Charlton Memorial Hospital.
From Brockton to Fall River: A Moving Mob
Police said the investigation revealed that the group had gathered earlier in Brockton and then traveled “as a convoy” to Fall River.

Four vehicles were towed away and five arrests were made, with a warrant pending for an additional suspect.
Five Arrested, More Suspects Expected
Those arrested are charged with disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace and conspiracy. They include: Jahir Gonzalez, 22, of New Bedford; Alexander Copsetta, 21, of North Easton; Alyssa Deyoung, 19, of Bridgewater; Mackenzie Benjamin, 19, of Kingston; and Aiden Meehan, 20, of Oxford. Meehan is also charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
Police said a warrant has also been requested for Brennden Ortega, 19, of New Bedford on similar charges, including resisting arrest.
The incidents remain under investigation. Police expect to be able to identify further suspects through review of the footage from officers’ body-worn cameras.
