FALL RIVER — A man known on social media as the "thong man" to residents in Fall River has been arrested on charges of making terroristic threats and stalking.

Fall River Police say on Monday at about 2:30 p.m. a woman reported that Joseph Anctil, 31, of 81 Plain Street, Fall River, had made threats toward her and the City of Fall River in a social media post. Police say the threats included "to make bombs, to blow up a former employer, to blow up the city car by car, to buy a gun, to kill the receptionist at the employment agency that hired him and fired him two weeks later."

In the alleged threat, Anctil named the woman and stated that he was going to enter her place of work knowing that she works alone, walk in, lock the door, and strangle her.

Anctil also named a specific city business and threatened to blow it up, according to police.

Fall River Police officers reviewed the social media post and located Anctil at his Plain Street home and placed him into custody.

Anctil is charged with stalking and terroristic threats.

Anctil is known to Fall River residents on social media as the "thong man" because of his postings of pictures and videos of himself wearing only a thong while in public in Fall River or in his home.
