Fall River Police Arrest Repeat Offender on Drug Charges
FALL RIVER (WBSM) — Fall River Police arrested a man who fled from a traffic stop and after police found crack cocaine and fentanyl in his vehicle.
According to police, patrol officers conducted a motor vehicle stop on April 1 when the driver suddenly exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot as police ordered him to stop.
Following a brief foot pursuit, he was apprehended a short distance away. He was identified as Miguel Saavedra, 43.

Police said that during a search of the vehicle, they located “a plastic bag containing a white substance believed to be crack cocaine (approximately 19.5 grams), along with 81 blue glassine bags containing a substance believed to be fentanyl.” They said they also discovered “drug distribution paraphernalia, including a digital scale and a box of plastic sandwich bags.”
Saavedra was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license (along with other motor vehicle infractions), trafficking cocaine, and possession with intent to distribute a Class A substance (fentanyl).
Saavedra had previously been arrested in 2019 for possession of crack cocaine and heroin.
