Fall River Man Illegally in New Bedford Apartment Found with Drugs
NEW BEDFORD — A Fall River man faces charges after he's found with drugs while illegally living in a New Bedford apartment.
New Bedford Police received a complaint Tuesday morning of a man that building management believed was staying in one of their apartments at 231 Middle Street even though he was not named on the lease. The man's identity was known to building management.
Upon arrival, police confirmed that the man, Marco Perez, 42, of 58 Fourth Street, Apt. 2, Fall River, had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
Police knocked on the apartment door and announced their presence to any occupants inside. A male responded but did not open the door. With the assistance of building management, police gained access and saw Perez in the apartment.
Perez was placed under arrest for the outstanding warrant. While he was being arrested, police discovered over 28 grams of suspected cocaine in Perez's possession with an additional 11 grams in plain view in the apartment.
Perez is charged with trafficking more than 36 grams of cocaine and the outstanding warrant.
