FALL RIVER (WBSM) — A 34-year-old man was killed when the bicycle he was riding was struck by a motor vehicle in Fall River on Sunday.

Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III announced today that on December 21 at about 5:15 p.m., Fall River Police responded to the area of 214 Stafford Road for a report of a bicyclist struck by a vehicle.

Victim Identified by Authorities

They arrived and find the victim, identified as Jordyn Lyttle of Fall River, in the roadway and suffering from a significant injury. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Hit-and-Run Vehicle Description

The D.A.’s Office said the initial investigation suggests Lyttle was riding the bicycle on Stafford Road and was struck from behind by a green 2005 Subaru Legacy that fled the scene. A second vehicle was involved when Lyttle entered the opposite lane after being struck by the Subaru. The second vehicle’s driver remained at the scene.

Ongoing Investigation

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney's Office along with Fall River Police.
