Fairhaven’s ‘Workplace.’ Brings New Coworking Concept
There’s something new brewing in Fairhaven, and if you’ve ever tried working from your kitchen table and was distracted by piles of laundry or a sink full of dishes, this might be exactly what you’ve been waiting for.
A new coworking concept called The Workplace. (yes, with the period, and yes, it’s intentional) is getting ready to open its doors inside the Seaport Realty building on Huttleston Ave., and it’s bringing a fresh new way to stay productive to the SouthCoast.
I caught up with the brains behind it all, Sara Farland and Angela Locke, who are turning an already beautiful space into something the community can actually use.
A Space Built for More Than Just Work
The idea for The Workplace. has actually been in the works for a while. When Farland originally designed the Seaport Realty office with her business Sara Crook Design, she had a vision that blended the feel of a coffee shop with a coworking space.
Think somewhere between your favorite Starbucks and a modern shared office.
“We just have such a big, beautiful space here,” Farland said. “It could serve the community more," and now, it finally will.
The 10,000-square-foot building offers everything from open seating and shared desks to private offices, dedicated workspaces, and even conference rooms that the public can book online.
Not Just a Desk — A Community
While coworking spaces aren’t new, what Locke and Farland are really focused on is connection.
This isn’t just a place to sit quietly with your laptop. It’s a place to network, collaborate, and grow alongside other entrepreneurs, freelancers, and small business owners.
They’re already planning monthly networking-style events featuring industry expert. We're not talking about live music or entertainment, but real, valuable conversations that can help people level up professionally.
Location, Light, and Lunch Options
Let’s talk about the setup, because this place checks all the boxes.
Huge glass windows flood the front space with natural light, creating that “I actually want to be here” kind of vibe. It’s right on Route 6 (Huttleston Ave), surrounded by spots like Mirasol’s and Starbucks, and plenty of lunch break options.
Oh, and yes, outside food is totally welcome.

Members can access the space during regular hours, while private office users get 24-7 key fob access. Clutch for those late-night grind sessions.
How It Works (And When You Can Check It Out)
The Workplace. officially opens May 1, but they’re already building buzz with a few key dates to know:
- April 14 (5 p.m. to 7 p.m.): Open house with tours, giveaways, and local vendors
- Founding Member pricing: Available leading up to opening and at the event
- Memberships: Month-to-month with options for day passes, shared desks, and private offices
Even better: you don’t have to be a member to book a conference room. Just hop online and reserve your spot.
