FAIRHAVEN (WBSM) — Fairhaven Police are investigating a stabbing that occurred after a fight late Sunday night and are searching for the suspect involved.

According to police, officers responded to a reported stabbing at about 10:15 p.m. on January 4 that took place outside of a home on Cherry Street following an altercation.

Three people suffered knife wounds in the incident, including one who was critically injured. No further information was provided regarding their identities or conditions.

Police found a firearm at the scene that was carried by the suspect, and said the search for the suspect is underway.

Police said the stabbing was not a random act and the victims and suspect were known to each other. They said it was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.

The incident remains under investigation by Fairhaven Police and Massachusetts State Police.
