Fairhaven Police Arrest Drug Suspect In New Bedford
A drug investigation that started in Fairhaven ended Tuesday in New Bedford.
Fairhaven Police, working with detectives from New Bedford and members of the Sheriff's South Coast Anti-Crime team, carried out a search warrant in a second floor apartment at 30 Ashland Place.
Sgt. Kevin Kobza says police arrested 52 year old Douglas Pickup, and seized $2,400 dollars in cash, a small amount of cocaine, and 57 grams of heroin.
"We considered it a significant seizure and obviously its something we take very seriously given the current problem with opioid-based overdoses and deaths resulting from overdoses," said Kobza
Pickup was charged with Trafficking Heroin and Possession of a Class B Substance. Kobza says the investigation began several months ago when Pickup was living in Fairhaven.
