Fairhaven Man Will Be Arraigned in Fatal Hit-and-Run Moped Crash
NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) — The suspect in this past weekend’s fatal hit and run in Fairhaven that claimed the life of a Brockton man is being arraigned this morning in New Bedford District Court.
The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office said Ryan Almeida, 35, of Fairhaven is being arraigned this morning on charges of leaving the scene with death resulting and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon with substantial injury.
According to Lt. Kevin Kobza, Fairhaven Police responded to reports of a motor vehicle crash on Saturday, August 3 at about 7:11 p.m.
The crash reportedly involved a Chevy Silverado pickup truck and a moped and occurred on Main Street in the area of Riverside Cemetery and the Route 195 overpass.

The moped driver, later identified as Alexis Alvarez, 29, of Brockton was rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford and later pronounced deceased.
The D.A.’s Office said "more facts on the investigation will be revealed in open court" during Almeida’s arraignment.
