FAIRHAVEN (WBSM) — A fatal crash in Fairhaven that claimed the life of a Brockton man on Saturday evening remains under investigation.

According to Lt. Kevin Kobza, Fairhaven Police responded to reports of a motor vehicle crash on August 3 at about 7:11 p.m.

The crash reportedly involved a Chevy Silverado pickup truck and a moped and occurred on Main Street in the area of Riverside Cemetery and the Route 195 overpass.

Kobza said the driver of the moped was seriously injured and transported by Fairhaven Fire Department paramedics to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, where the victim was pronounced deceased.

ABC6 reported that the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office has identified the victim as Alexis Alvarez, 29, of Brockton.

Kobza said the driver of the Silverado left the scene.

He said preliminary investigation determined the moped and Silverado were both traveling southbound at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under active investigation by Fairhaven Police, the Massachusetts State Police Crime Prevention and Control Unit, and the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.
