I understand that some people are scared of firearms. I understand that some people don't know how firearms function. But it is wrong to lie and scare people.

The candidates who are running for president have been sucked into a discussion about civil rights and they have opted to limit the civil rights of the citizens of the United States of America.

Owning a firearm is a civil right. It is protected by the Second Amendment to our Constitution. The experienced founders of our Republic who crafted the U.S. Constitution anticipated the screams of the uneducated and passionate mob. In anticipation of the screaming fools, they made sure to protect the rights of self-defense, private property, and free speech.

The rights of individuals to own weapons are already highly restricted. There are no military-grade weapons legally available to the general public in America.

The National Rifle Association is one of America's oldest and most prestigious civil rights organizations.

The Democrats running for president are falsely claiming the AR-15 is a "weapon of war." Anyone who has ever served in the military knows this is a false claim. An AR-15 is a standard semi-automatic rifle. The rifle fires one bullet each time the trigger is pulled. The U.S. military has never issued a rifle like the AR-15 to the men and women who defend our country.

Some of the people running for president as Democrats know that the AR-15 isn't actually a military weapon and some of them don't know anything about firearms. The choice is between a liar and a person that isn't curious enough about a problem to learn about it.

Stripping Americans of their civil rights is never the solution.
