NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) — After renovations took a little longer than expected, one of New Bedford’s favorite hot dog stands is back in business.

Dee’s Hot Dogs Reopens After Renovations

Dee’s Hot Dogs, located at 51 Tarkiln Hill Road, closed down on January 19 for some interior renovations. At the time, owner Dee Martin told WBSM she didn’t have an exact time period for how long the hot dog stand would be closed, but didn’t think it would take more than a week or so.

Snowstorm and Delays Extended the Closure

However, the snowstorm we received at the end of January and some other delays made the renovations take just a little longer than anticipated. Dee’s finally reopened on Saturday, February 7.

Visitors to Dee’s Hot Dogs probably won’t see the renovations that were done; they were all part of the interior of the building, in the back room that isn’t visible through the stand’s windows.

Interior Upgrades Focused on Food Prep Area

The food prep area was redone, and the employee bathroom was remodeled. Martin emphasized when she spoke with WBSM back in January that the bathrooms would remain for employees only.

Celebrating 40 Years With Improvements

Dee’s Hot Dogs celebrated 40 years in business in 2025, and as part of its milestone anniversary year, big upgrades happened on the exterior of the building, including a new sign and digital menu boards. So it was about time the interior got a new look as well.

Hot Dogs and the Story of Burger King's Hot Dog Flop

When one is writing a story about hot dogs, it is appropriate to include many pictures from the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council. Did you know there is a National Hot Dog and Sausage Council? I didn't...until today. You know what I said when I found them?
