NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) — One of New Bedford’s go-to spots for Dee-licious hot dogs will be closed for a brief time, as Dee’s Hot Dogs is undergoing a renovation.

How Long Will Dee's Hot Dogs Be Closed?

The Tarkiln Hill Road hot dog stand closed down on Sunday, January 19 to begin the renovations, with an expected closure of about eight days. However, owner Dee Martin said she will have a better idea once the contractors are able to give her a more accurate timeline.

A 40-Year New Bedford Tradition

Dee’s Hot Dogs celebrated 40 years in business in 2025, and threw a huge block party to celebrate. The year also saw big upgrades to the beloved spot, including a new sign and digital menu boards.

What Renovations Are Being Made

The latest project is a renovation of the interior.

“We are renovating our back room – our food prep area and remodeling the employee restroom,” Martin told WBSM, noting that the restroom will remain employees only and will not be open to the public.
