How many times do they have to nag us? Too much salt is no good for you! Now, their warnings are coming true in a new  study on the effects salt has on our cardiovascular system. The Dean of the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University, Dariush Mozaffarian, said that almost 1 in 10 of all cardiovascular deaths around the world are cause by salt overload.

This one single factor in diet, salt, could be contributing to almost 10 percent of the cardiovascular deaths. That's about 1.65 million deaths from cardiovascular disease each year can be attributed to sodium consumption.

It's hard to get away from hidden salt. Whether you're eating canned soup or having a sit-down meal in a restaurant, you're getting way more salt than you need. Check these out:

  • Quiznos' Large French Dip has 3,610 mg of sodium
  • Panera Bread's Full Bacon Turkey Bravo has 2,800 mg of sodium
  • Domino's Mac-N-Cheese has 1,390 mg of sodium
