The Drug Enforcement Administration is cracking down on synthetic drugs. DEA officials say a nationwide operation on Wednesday targeted the distribution and trafficking of synthetic drugs in roughly two-dozen states.

The White House Office of National Drug Control Policy says synthetic drugs, or designer drugs, pose tremendous health risks and represent a rapidly emerging threat.

Carl Alves, the director of the drug treatment program, PAACA, says synthetic or designer drugs are often marketed to children.....

Many synthetic drugs are coming from China. Federal officials are concerned that substantial profits from synthetic drugs are being funneled to terror cells in the Middle East and Africa.
