Three SouthCoast Joann Stores to Close as Part of Shutdown of Over 500 Locations
Fabric and craft retailer Joann is closing more than half of its stores across 49 states.
USA Today reported that the chain would be closing “approximately 500” of its roughly 850 stores.
Included in those closures are SouthCoast locations in North Dartmouth, Seekonk and Raynham, among the 19 total stores expected to close in Massachusetts.
The Warwick, Rhode Island location will also close.
No official closing date has been announced.

Joann said in a statement to CNN that “right-sizing our store footprint is a critical part of our efforts to ensure the best path forward.”
"This was a very difficult decision to make, given the major impact we know it will have on our Team Members, our customers and all of the communities we serve," Joann's statement to news outlets said. "A careful analysis of store performance and future strategic fit for the Company determined which stores should remain operating as usual at this time."
Joann filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in March 2024, but then was able to keep all of its stores open by going private and emerging from Chapter 11 a few weeks later. However, the retailer filed for bankruptcy again last month, the second time in less than a year.
