The fire department and EMS arrived shortly after and rendered aid to the victim, who was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. She was later pronounced deceased. Her identity has not been released.

According to the Town of Dartmouth, the driver of the vehicle remained on the scene, and it appears solar glare may have contributed to the crash. Speed was not determined to be a factor.

The crash is currently under investigation by the Dartmouth Police Department Crash Reconstruction Unit, the Dartmouth Police Detective Division and Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.
