A Dartmouth man is recovering at a Boston hospital after being injured Friday in a dirt bike accident in the Freetown State Forest.

Fifty-three year old Peter Mills is listed in good condition.  Mills was injured Friday afternoon around 430pm while riding dirt bikes with another man in the vicinity of the Ledge.  The friend called 9-1-1 and Freetown Police and Fire responded.

Public safety personnel placed the injured man on a backboard and carried him about a mile to emergency vehicles.  He was later taken by helicopter to Tufts Medical Center for treatment.  Freetown Fre officials think Mills struck a tree and suffered a chest injury.
