You may not have noticed, but indoor malls are having a tough go of it in Southeastern Massachusetts. Both the Swansea Mall and the Silver City Galleria Mall in Taunton have shut down.

However, the region's original indoor mall is still going strong. The Dartmouth Mall is welcoming new tenants and expects a bustling holiday shopping season.

Heather Crowell is vice president of Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust, the firm that owns the Dartmouth Mall. She had some things to say about why the Dartmouth Mall continues to be a retail hub for the SouthCoast.

During her Townsquare Sunday interview, Crowell discussed some of the strategies used by her firm to attract customer traffic to the mall, and some of the reasons behind the decision to include an ALDI supermarket on its roster of stores.

She also said there are jobs available at the Dartmouth Mall, both full and part-time. You can check out their website for details.

Crowell believes that people, after spending the last year and a half indoors because of the COVID-19 pandemic, are now ready to go out and shop. That bodes well for the retail scene in general, and the Dartmouth Mall in particular.

Townsquare Sunday is a weekly public affairs program heard Sunday mornings on 1420 WBSM. The program highlights individuals and organizations seeking to make Greater New Bedford a better place to live and work.
