Dartmouth Mall Macy’s Opens Late Due to Computer Issue
NORTH DARTMOUTH (WBSM) — The Macy’s at the Dartmouth Mall opened a bit late today, but is open nonetheless.
The store normally opens at 10 a.m., but the opening was delayed a bit, due to what a store employee told us was a “computer issue” with their system.
The store fixed the issue and then opened up for business.
Earlier this year, the department store chain announced a shift in strategy entitled “A Bold New Chapter” that would call for the permanent closure of at least 150 Macy’s locations across the country.
So naturally, Macy’s customers here on the SouthCoast were a little concerned when they arrived to find locked doors this morning, taking to social media to seek answers.
However, Macy’s told Fun 107 back in February that the Dartmouth Mall location was not one of the underperforming stores that were targeted for closure.
“Our new strategy is designed to return Macy's Inc. to profitable growth and enhance the customer experience. We intend to close approximately 150 Macy's stores over the next three years,” Macy’s said.
“This allows us to focus our investments and resources on Macy's go-forward locations including full line, furniture, and current off-mall locations and Bloomie's, Bloomingdales The Outlet, and Bluemercury stores,” the company said. “We look forward to continuing to serve our customers at Macy's Dartmouth.”
