The Town of Dartmouth has assembled a panel to publicly discuss the local effects of and possible solutions to the opioid epidemic.

Dartmouth Police Detective Kyle Costa says Wednesday night's discussion will ask some key questions. "What can we do not only to address these issues, but also prevent them from really taking hold of the community even moreso?" says Costa.

Costa says the discussion is the first endeavor of the new organization COPE: Community Offering Prevention and Education. Costa is the vice chair, with Dartmouth's Director of Public Health, Christopher Michaud, chairing the group.

Several town officials will take part in the panel discussion, which begins at 6pm in the Dartmouth Middle School auditorium on Slocum Road. The forum will be moderated by WBSM's Taylor Cormier.
