DARTMOUTH — A Connecticut man has been arrested and charged for stabbing a coworker in Dartmouth early Saturday morning.

Dartmouth Police say at approximately 12:13 a.m., officers responded to the Residence Inn on Faunce Corner Road for a reported disturbance.

Upon arrival, officers learned that a 30-year old man, also of Connecticut, had been stabbed during an earlier altercation with a coworker.  Both men were part of a work crew staying at the hotel.

With additional information that they received while on scene, officers learned that the suspect had fled the scene prior to their arrival.

As the result of an investigation into the stabbing, Dartmouth Police identified the male suspect as 26-year-old Tyreke Brooks, of Manchester, Connecticut.

At approximately 8:21 a.m., Dartmouth Police received information that Brooks had returned to the Residence Inn. Dartmouth Police officers and Dartmouth Police K-9 unit returned to the hotel and took Brooks into custody without incident.

In addition to being charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, Brooks also had two outstanding warrants for his arrest.

Though the injury the male victim sustained was non-life-threatening, he was transported by EMS personnel to Rhode Island Hospital to receive further treatment.

The Saturday night stabbing was the second to occur in Bristol County in less then two days. On Thursday, a 41-year-old homeless man was stabbed to death in neighboring New Bedford.
