A 31-year-old Coast Guardsman charged with killing one person and injuring two others on Cape Cod has been sent by a judge to a state psychiatric hospital for another six months.

Adrian Loya has been at Bridgewater State Hospital since about a week after his arrest on Feb. 5.

Loya is charged with fatally shooting Lisa Trubnikova and wounding her wife, Anna, in Bourne. Both were in the Coast Guard. He's is also charged with wounding police Officer Jared MacDonald.

The Cape Cod Times reports that Loya's attorney commended the judge's ruling, saying Loya needs the hospital's services, but added that it's too early to speculate on an insanity defense.

Police say Loya wrote a 250-page essay stating his reasons for wanting to kill Lisa Trubnikova, and video recorded the attack.
