Coast Guard Medevacs Commercial Fisherman to Hospital
A 50-year-old commercial fisherman who suffered a medical emergency was airlifted Friday from a vessel 60 miles southeast of Martha's Vineyard and flown to Providence Hospital, the U.S. Coast Guard announced.
Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod received a call at around 6 p.m. from the 128-foot commercial fishing vessel Persistence regarding a crew members displaying stroke-like symptoms. Air rescue crews launched a MH-Jayhawk medevac helicopter and safely hoisted the man at around 7:30 p.m.
