YARMOUTH — Fire officials on Cape Cod say a man, working as a landscaper, has leg his leg in an accident involving a wood chipper.

There was a 911 call placed from a home in Yarmouth at around 10 a.m. on Friday after a man's leg became trapped in the wood chipper.  According to the Cape Cod Times, when firefighters and police arrived at the scene, they report finding the landscaper "bleeding profusely," with fellow workers attempting to help him.

The man was rushed to Cape Cod Hospital with what are being called life-threatening injuries.  The fire department told The Times that they were not able to save his leg.

Police are investigating the accident and OSHA has also been contacted.
