Cadillac SUV Driver Charged in Fatal Easton Head-On Crash
The man behind the wheel of a Cadillac Escalade involved in a fatal head-on crash in Easton has been issued a criminal citation, the Office of Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III announced today.
Police requested that Jake McCabe, 25, of Easton be charged with motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation, unsafe operation of a motor vehicle and a marked lane violation, the DA's office said. The charging process will be set for a clerk's hearing through the Taunton District Court.
Shortly before 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoon 37-year-old Scott Lewis of Easton was the sole occupant of a Kia Rio that collided with the SUV near 539 Bay Road, police said at the time. Lewis was declared dead at the scene. McCabe was taken to Boston Medical with non-life threatening injuries. Bay Road was closed to traffic for several hours.
Massachusetts State Police detectives from Quinn's office responded to the scene of the fatal crash and were assisted in the investigation by the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and Easton Police detectives.
