Bruins Trade Pick To Winnipeg For F Stafford
While the Boston Celtics sat on all of their assets last week and made no deals before the NBA's trade deadline, Boston's hockey team, the Bruins, were not as quiet at the NHL's trade deadline this afternoon.
Though they didn't do anything too flashy, the B's made a modest move to strengthen their third and fourth lines, as they acquired forward Drew Stafford from the Winnipeg Jets just before the 3:00 p.m. deadline.
In exchange for Stafford, Boston only gave up a conditional sixth round pick, so they didn't have to give up much to add a potential offensive weapon.
The B's have won seven of their last eight games since firing longtime head coach Claude Julien and naming assistant coach Bruce Cassidy as their interim head coach.
Stafford has played in 40 games this season and has totaled 13 points, including four goals.
