Bristol Police to Make ‘DJ’ Daniel an Honorary Police Officer
The world's most beloved 13-year-old cancer survivor and honorary law enforcement officer is coming to Bristol, Rhode Island.
Devarjaye "DJ" Daniel of Houston, Texas has a heart and a will to live that's bigger than the Lone Star State. He was diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain and spinal cancer and has had 13 surgeries since 2018.
At the time of his diagnosis, his doctors gave DJ five months to live. That was seven years ago.
Houston's Fox 26 reported, "DJ grew up watching his military father (Theodis Daniel) interact with men and women in uniform. It's only natural that he's always dreamed of becoming a police officer."
Since his story became public, DJ has taken an honorary oath with over 1,300 law enforcement agencies.
During an address to Congress in March, President Donald Trump made DJ an honorary Secret Service agent. DJ and his dad later visited the White House and met President Trump in the Oval Office.

Recently, DJ developed three new tumors.
Theodis Daniel told People, "It's rough – there isn't a class that can teach you how to deal with it." He told Fox 7 Austin that DJ is "just winging it day by day."
DJ will be in Bristol on Saturday, June 21, 2025, to become an honorary member of the Bristol Police Department.
The event, hosted by the James D. Rielly Foundation, coincides with the start of the Bristol Summer Concert Series at Roger Williams University.
"This ceremony is not only about celebrating DJ's bravery but also about honoring the spirit of service and unity that defines both DJ and our community," Foundation President Michael Rielly said.
The event is open to the public and will take place at 5:30 p.m. before the concert.
